about the artist
Hello. I’m Kristi.
Thanks for stopping by!
I’ve spent more than 20 years building a career in digital design and am currently working as a UX designer. While my professional life has centered around the web, I’ve been drawn back to the immediacy and expression of physical art.
After going through treatment for ovarian cancer in 2025, art became more than a creative outlet. It became a source of comfort and therapy.
Returning to paint, paper, and mixed media has been a way to reconnect with myself and find joy in the process of creating again.

about kitz.studio
Inspired by nature and pop art kitsch
Pop art is about breaking the boundaries between “high” and “low” culture. It is bold, colorful, and challenges convention.
I aim to bring that same playful rebellion to my artwork. Why can’t a bear be painted in tropical colors? Art doesn’t have to be so serious.
about the name
What’s the story behind the name?
The name kitz.studio has a few points of significance.
First, it’s a nod to pop art’s love for kitsch. I thought it would be funny to give my work a label that sometimes carries a connotation of bad taste… or at least a tone of irony.
Besides that, it’s also a joke that was born out of a misinterpretation of my very messy signature. My name is Kristi, but my signature looks like “kitz.”
